GDZ Server rules etiquette and general expectations.
In Dutch
This is a brief but hopefully useful broad roundup of our server rules, expectations and other relevant info for all players joining either of our two servers.
Firstly the admins. We have numerous people who as well as wanting to play and enjoy the game, dedicate a lot of in game and non-game time ensuring
YOU have a good experience and need not worry about who is or isn't hacking, who is flouting the rules we have in place (we'll get to those later) or who is just generally causing the gaming experience to be unpleasant in any way for others. There is almost ALWAYS one or another of us on the servers at any given time so any problems look about for anyone with a [GDZ] tag, if they are not an admin, they will almost certainly be able to contact very quickly, someone who is and the matter will be resolved.
In the unlikely event there is a problem and you feel there is no-one around you can contact about the issue, dropping by this website and putting a note in the chat feature at the top of the page or in the forum itself will be sufficient for an admin to see it within a short time, and get back to you.
On the flip side if you have been banned or punished by one of our team, do not hesitate to come to the website too and make your feelings known.
ANY complaint, even against an admin or [GDZ] player, is taken seriously and will be looked into at any request from a player.
Mistakes can be made on our part, we are but human, but rest assured that we strive to work against false bans by doing extensive research on suspect players before taking action. Admins watch players in game, check anti-cheat sites and endeavor to ensure that if you are punished, it is deserved.
Our servers both stream live to PBB and GGC as well as having updated community driven checklists and links to official player cheat name lists to ensure games are as cheat free, fair, and enjoyable as possible.
The rulesThese are the main rules we have in place. Most are automatically enforced by the server and are non-negotiable.
1)
No baserape/Spawnkill - This isn't fun for anyone. Gaming is meant to be fun and the best fun is when its back and forth, hectic and exciting. There are a lot of new players constantly joining this game and ours is a noob friendly server. We don't want to see a team penned back into their base, no flags capped, and then on top of that half the enemy team in their deployment killing instantly as they respawn. This rule is auto enforced. Kill someone in the enemy deployment & you will be auto killed. Do it more than once & you are open to a ban.
2)
Stay OUT of enemy mainbase - Just an extension of the above. There is no reason you should ever be in the enemy deployment. It is un-capturable and therefore of no use to anyone unless their only aim is to play unfairly. Fairness is key to us. If the enemy has unused vehicles in their base they are already at a disadvantage if your own team is using all their
OWN assets.
3)
No stealing vehicles from enemy deployment - This is just a follow on from the above rule, both teams are fairly evenly matched in regards to vehicles and equipment. You do not need to drive to the enemy mainbase and steal their chopper. Again, this isn't fun or fair.
There are other servers who endorse this tactic. We don't. Stealing an enemy vehicle is perfectly fine if they abandon it anywhere outside the main deployment. That's fair game and their loss.
4)
CG/RPG/40mm Grenade on infantry is allowed - Not so much a rule as just a nod to the fact that this is a war game. Anything that kills is legitimate to use. The constant whining about what weapon you get killed with is silly and frankly annoying. A sniper rifle can be one hit kill. A shotgun can be one hit kill. But an explosive is somehow frowned upon. Live with it. Suck it up and if the same guy keeps blowing you to pieces, pull out your own CG and hit him in the kneecaps with it. Its insanely funny to blow people up and ultimately we're all here to have fun. If you disapprove of the rule take out your frustrations on our clan members by smashing them in the face with an rpg from 5 feet away.
5)
Max 5 snipers per team -
6 players on server - limit reduced to 2 per team
11 or less - 3 are allowed
14 players on server - 4 are allowed
anything above this the full 5 are allowed
It's important to stress firstly this is a limit on the actual sniper rifles, not the recon kit in general. Any amount of recon kits can be used,
our overall feeling is that too many long distance sniping contests harm the game in general. Heavy metal has lots of vehicles.
LOTS. And the middle base is the key to the game. Its all well and good sniping and picking men off from distance, but if there is a pitched battle for the middle ground you need bodies in there helping, being a spawn point for others to get back into the action quickly, keeping a presence, harassing the enemy. 16 men all in the thick of the action will ALWAYS beat 5 men at the objective and 11 sniping from Venus. Its fun to play as a sniper but we feel a reasonable limit is needed to keep the balance between a competitive game for everyone, and fulfilling the lone wolf mentality of others. 5 snipers in a team of 16 is nearly a third and that is plenty. We hope you agree.
6)
Chopper restrictions in empty servers - This rule may not be loved by some, but on the whole it is much better for the game. When the teams are less than 5 v 5 anyone killing someone with a helicopter is
auto killed warned by the server. It is just a way to remind someone in a chopper totally annihilating the enemy team from the air when they only have 5 players to begin with, and more than likely have very little chance to shoot down the heli as well as protect or capture a base is very tiresome. We feel this will cause an already nearly empty server to become totally empty. The aim is to get people to join, not make the ones already there leave because they cannot even move.
7)
Racism/General abuse - No excuse for it. Ever. Whatever your own world views or opinions, a game where we all want to have fun is not the place to air them. There is an auto ban system in place for any racially motivated words typed into the chat. Yes these include misspellings and or any other attempt to get around saying such things. We are not a Christian server, but there is a vast gulf of difference between a little bad language, an expression of frustration, and abusing other players. Lets all play nice.
On the whole these rules are there for everyones benefit. Just use your common sense and think before you say/do something. If any of this was happening to YOU, how long would you stay? We're all mostly adults or can behave like one at least. Play the game shoot some people in the face, and have fun.
The Gravediggaz team.
